Support Displaced and Vulnerable Communities
Myanmar Humanitarian Crisis: A Call for Compassion
Myanmar's people face an unprecedented humanitarian emergency since the February 2021 military coup. Due to the atrocities committed by Myanmar military, over 3.5 million individuals have fled their homes, seeking safety in jungles and makeshift shelters, while 19.9 million—more than a third of the population—desperately need humanitarian aid.
Against overwhelming odds, since it was formed, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the National Unity Government has worked tirelessly, supporting 18.2 billion Kyats worth of humanitarian assistance to those most needy people affected by the conflicts. In 2024 alone, we provided critical support worth of 7.7 billion kyats to nearly 175,000 displaced people, 4,271 injured civilians and families of those killed in attacks, and more than a million natural disaster survivors. We've built 526 temporary houses for families whose homes were burned down, provided tarpaulins to 2,305 households, and implemented disaster risk reduction initiatives benefiting 10,935 people, including constructing bomb shelters and conducting emergency drills.
Through coordinated efforts with revolutionary forces, ethnic allies, local organizations, and international partners, we've created networks of compassion that reach deep into affected communities. Yet our resources stretch thin while needs grow deeper. Access restrictions imposed by the military junta and recent cuts in international funding have left countless families without food, medicine, or hope. Children sleep hungry under plastic tarps while the elderly go without essential medications. Behind every statistic is a person—a mother separated from her children, a student whose education was violently interrupted, a civil servant who chose courage over complicity.
Your support enables us to reach those forgotten by the world. Every contribution helps provide food to displaced families, shelter for those who've lost homes to military arson, assistance for the injured, and dignity for the bereaved. As we look toward 2025, we aim not just to meet immediate needs but to help rebuild lives through livelihood support and community resilience programs. The people of Myanmar have shown extraordinary courage in the face of brutality—they deserve our unwavering solidarity. Their struggle is a testament to the human spirit's resilience, and with your help, that spirit will prevail. Please stand with Myanmar in its darkest hour.
